Ryan Byrne

YOUNG up and coming Taekwondo star Ryan Byrne, kicked his way straight to the top at his first grading in Darlington at the weekend.

The young martial artist who started training only a few months ago, got excellent marks all the way throughout his physical exam and was awarded with a double promotion as well as “Best of Grade” trophy.

His Instructor, Katey Wallace, former 4 times British Champion said she was really pleased with his progress: “For a 7 year old his attitude and work ethic is amazing. He puts everything into his training. He listens, concentrates and works hard on his faults. He has got an exceptionally bright future,” she said.

Ryan, from Bishop Auckland, trains up to 4 times a week, travelling to Wolsingham and Darlington for as many training sessions as possible.

“Ryan comes to as many lessons as he can and because of his dedication has received those excellent marks. Taekwondo, like anything in this life, is about hard work, and you get out what you put it,” she explained, “Ryan has put 100% in and I’m really glad he has got these excellent results.”

Martial art lessons are available for adults as well as children at The Dolphin Centre and Haughton Educational Village in Darlington and also in Wolsingham.
